I love the Double Musky Inn! It's a gem located in Girdwood. They do Cajun cooking along with great steaks. I have enjoyed everything I've eaten there, well-known for their pepper steak. They have amazing jalapeno cheese bread, which you can take home so you have room for your main course. My favorite part is when they bring you the dessert tray at the end so you can see how delicious your choices are.The atmosphere is unique with beautiful stained glass and treasures everywhere to give you that vibe of an Alaskan hang out. The staff is super friendly and very attentive! They don't take reservations, so sometimes you have to wait for over an hour, but it's definitely worth the wait! They let you look for an open seat in their lounge so you can enjoy a drink and appetizers, makes the wait time fly by.
MoreAccording to our friends this was a must visit place. The food and staff did not disappoint. We waited in line prior to the opening time to make sure we got in without delay. It was worth it. The staff was attentive, accommodating and made us feel like we mattered. We ordered drinks, appetizers and a specialty main course. You can see the food choices in the attached pictures. The Shrimp and Scallop Cardinal was amazing as a main dish. It had the right amount of spice and the ingredients were balanced on the plate so everything was represented well. If you are in the area, this should be a stop on your dining list.
MoreTried the peppered steak with gravy sauce, didn't really like it. But, customer service was excellent. Cleaning after every customer's table with disinfectant spray is an A++
MoreWe had a fantastic dinner and the wait staff was fabulous. Thanks
It was worth the drive down. Good food but I could tell that the staff was feeling the stress of the covid restrictions. Our server was not really present at all. She actually walked away from me a couple times when I was trying to ask her about something. I asked for a med/rare steak but got a med-med/well steak. Not wanting to add to their stress, I didn't complain or send it back. I'll give them another shot another time. Apps were delicious though and so was dessert. Those were home runs
MoreArrived about 30 minutes before opening and there was already a line. Based on the menu, one might assume this is an upscale restaurant but 99% of the patrons were wearing hiking boots and t-shirts. I would say the pricing in fair based on the quality and portions. Most entrees cost around $30, however the appetizers could also be enjoyed as a main course. The menu is not vegetarian-friendly however it is pescatarian-friendly. The jalapeño cheddar bread starter was a highlight. Also, save room for dessert!
MoreThis was probably the best meal I had while I was here in Alaska. After a long hike to portage glacier and back, we stopped off here due to a recommendation from our friend who was driving us. Be ready to pull some money out of your pockets for this place but it is worth every penny! I got the special which was a 20 oz prime rib with a loaded potato. The fresh mad bread was also amazing and don't forget the homemade desserts! I was blown away, and if I ever make my way back up here again, I definitely will be eating here.
MoreHave always had a fabulous meal here. The ambience is the coolest and the staff are superb. Can't wait for to you reopen.
MoreGreat service. Unique ambiance. A must try if you're in the area.
This is always the first place I try to eat at when visiting Girdwood. The atmosphere here is unlike any other. Food is expensive but I’ve never had a bad meal. They’re famous for their pepper steak but if you try it make sure you’re sharing with someone. It’s huge.
MoreThe peppered steak and carrots cake are amazing, I can't bring myself to order anything else
MoreIntimate but not intimidating. Service and food was top notch. Will be "popping" in more often.
MoreNo reservations makes this a real gem. Come early and stay a while. Grab a seat in the bar while waiting for a table. Its standing room only most times, and don't hesitate to share a space. Alaskans are friendly after all. Lots of options in the bar with appetizer menu and drinks. Staff is great about shuffling you, drinks and bills when time to seat in dinning room. The Muskie is a always lively. Its made more so by having a good attitude and being patient. Once seated, service is pretty fast. Portions are large, so plan to being food home. If you are in Girdwood at the hotels, use a shuttle or carpool. Parking can be a hastle, so reducing cars in the lot is nice where you can, plus this also promotes responsible fun. Deserts are great and they have many, so save some room. Drink options are really good if a little limited, which is understandable for the location. But I've never had a bad drink in my many visits. Definitely worth the wait in my opinion.
MoreThere are no reservations at this classy cajun restaurant so come early or expect to wait. Good food and great service. I always enjoy my meal here. Check out the interesting decorations that litter the walls.
MoreI absolutely love this place. Even after moving away from Anchorage 20 yrs ago I think about the amazing food and Peppercorn Steak. I was actually looking for cheap flights from Vancouver so I could go there for dinner lol.
MoreConsistently fantastic food. Everything is delicious. From the monstrous French Pepper Steak, lick-your-plate-clean Shrimp and Scallop Cardinel, Lobster Kabob, to the Prime Rib. My all-time favorite restaurant! You will definately want to go back for more.
MoreVery natural-feeling atmosphere with lots of wood and low-lighting. Somewhat crowded seating. Loud volume since everyone sits so close. Cluttered decor. Excellent serving staff. Delicious menu items that are fresh. Good dessert and appetizers. Expensive, but high quality experience.
MoreOne the best restaurants in Alaska, this place has excellent cajun style food. Arrive early, or be prepared to wait, especially during the peak of summer. The pepper steak is very popular. Seafood choices are also good. This place might have fancy food, but you won't look out of place if you are dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. The portions are huge, my wife and I both took home enough leftovers for a another meal.
MoreThis place was recommended by our ATV tour guide, and it was one of the best meals of my life!!! A must try if you're in Alaska! Our waiter Jay was awesome!!
MoreThe most tender chicken and flavorful steak we have ever had. Perfectly cooked without sacrificing any flavor.
MoreThis place is legendary! They open at 4:30pm for dinner, but you want to get there early to stand in line and guarantee an immediate sitting. If you happen to miss the first seating, you will most likely be waiting 60-90 minutes until you are seated. The staff is incredible. Rudy is the best and even remembers our food order from past visits. The stuffed mushrooms are literally to die for. I recommend the hen over the chicken if you are on the fence about them. The flavor of the sauce used on the rack of lamb is delicious. The service is what really sets this place apart from other restaurants. Get here early and enjoy the hospitality and the food.
MoreScenery was fantastic but food was ok. Very tasty but not 5 star.
JC One Liner Review: They do have a fantastic steak, but it's not worth the wait if there is any.I heard so many good reviews about this place, stating that their steaks are the best and supposedly melt in your mouth, etc. I gave it a try, and luckily we did not have to wait to be seated. We ordered the famous burger - French Pepper Steak, and I was not too excited after the first bite. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad steak, but it is not worth the hype I heard all along. Surprisingly, it tasted better the next day when I had it warmed and ate it for my breakfast, and I think it was because of the sauce which contributed as if it is the juice from the steak.I cannot say I highly recommend this steak but it was not a bad steak either.
MoreLoud and annoying, but amazing food and service!Bargain priced appetizers. ( Stuffed mushrooms ) included huge jalapeno cheese biscuits. Generous sized steaks.Kitchen and wait staff was accommodating to special requests. If you are like me . . . A good steak does not need gravy, so might order gravy on the side for pepper steak :)
MoreWonderful experience from start to finish. The decor is eclectic and fun. We sat in a corner booth drinking a bottle of wine people watching. The food was a bit pricey but when it came the large portion size didnt disappoint. The scallops as nf shrimp dish was packed with flavor. My date said his pepper corn steak was a beautifully seasoned and a perfect medium rare. We will return! Desert is also a must here!
MoreI really don’t understand the appeal of this place... Nice servers but food is mediocre at best. The atmosphere/building also looked ...dated? Not sure if that’s the right word for it. Pretty disappointing after hearing others rave about it. Oh well.
MoreOne of my favorites!! It's always a pleasure to eat here, whenever I make it out to Girdwood. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. The wait time is totally worth it :)
MoreFood is excellent! Tasty and big portions, even for the people who can eat a lot. Not your typical high end appearance of fine dining But is a great small ski town feel. The 'Pepper Steak' is the best. Heads up on wait times because of the popularity. Got there before they open 45 minute (closed on Monday) and another 35 to 40 minute for food (party of 6).
MoreAmazing food and great service! Definitely worth calling ahead but was able to get a drink from the bar and wait outside for a table to open up. THE spot for dinner in Girdwood.
MoreDecor is really cool, as many others have said. It would be great coming back to this inn & restaurant after a long day of winter adventures. There is often a wait to wait to eat here, but they have a "lounge" where you can enjoy drinks and apps as you wait for a table. They serve large portions of food here -- my friend and I shared an entree and left satisfied. For this price point I was hoping that they'd be more caring about the way they serve vegetables. For $40 half of our plate was lightly seasoned, undercooked broccoli and cauliflower. Finally, our appetizer ($28 for 1/2 lb of king crab) came at the end of the meal and we were charged twice for it. We had ordered it in the lounge, but it didn't come until we were finished with our entree. Our waitress had charged us as if we had ordered it both at the lounge and the dinner table - luckily she was very gracious when I mentioned it and it only took a minute to fix.
MoreFood is always great hit the spot. They raised a lot of the price on the food.
Cozy little restaurant in Girdwood. Service was good as well as the food. We had the king crab legs and crab stuffed hallibut.
MoreAlways terrific. Been years since we've last been, and was still fantastic! Shrimp in the Etouffee is still the only shrimp I've had that tastes like fresh spotted shrimp on the back of my dad's boat in Prince Williams Sound.
